There is a Connection between Spectrum 10K and Autism Speaks

For the longest time the people at Spectrum 10K said they have no affiliation with Autism Speaks. When going through old blogs and reformatting them to the blocks instead of classic editor, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

MSSNG or Aut10k

MSSNG project by Autism Speaks was originally called Aut10k (Autism Speaks Ten Thousand Genome Project) .The names are extremely similar. It was a joint effort between Google and Autism Speaks. Read more about it here

The goal of the MSSNG project was to collect 10,000 DNA samples from autistic people. It’s the same goal as Spectrum 10k.

Autism Speaks Gives Money to Spectrum 10k Sponsor

The sponsor of Spectrum 10k is Wellcome. Autism Speaks says right on their website that they give to them for a different study BUT there is no proof that they do not use any of that money for Spectrum 10k.

Spectrum 10k Uses an Autism Speaks Project for Their Study

Spectrum 10k out and says they use AGRE, Autism Genetic Resource Exchange which is a database of autistic DNA that can be shared with researchers all over the world. They are using a tool that was made by Autism Speaks. This is where the DNA from AUT 10k or MSSNG was going.

We don’t know if they actually are giving money to Spectrum 10k but it looks bad.
